Simple Minds & Devo With The Church This Month!

SIMPLE MINDS & DEVO

with the church

National Tour Commences This Month!

Live Concert CD's Available After The Show

One of the year's most captivating tours kicks off later this month when rock legends Simple Minds, art rock pioneers Devo and Australia's the church take the stage for eagerly-awaited indoor concerts and a day on the green events.

The tour also marks a significant innovation for concert fans, with live recordings of both the Simple Minds and Devo sets to be on sale at merchandise stands immediately after each show. More on that later....

Both Simple Minds and Devo have been busy on the road in recent months, Glasgow's finest having completed a massive European jaunt to rave reviews including summer festivals and headlining appearances at Wembley Stadium and Milton Keynes, whilst Devo joined with Blondie for the perfectly named 'Whip It To Shreds' US tour.

What has remained a constant in Simple Minds' career from their early days til now is their dedication to live performance and they remain a formidable, vibran, and vital concert attraction.

"By the closing of New Gold Dream, the venue was in rapture. A concert that met and frequently exceeded every expectation." (UK Record Collector)

"The two-hour set was superb. From the opening, blistering burst of I Travel, they are in outstanding form." (Newcastle Gazette)

"An electric passion is rekindled." (Daily Telegraph)

"Jim Kerr is still the supreme showman after thirty-five years in the game. Timeless." (Drowned in Sound)

"Simple Minds are suddenly alive and kicking again" (The Guardian)

Australian audiences may well get to celebrate a very special Simple Minds milestone, according to Jim Kerr's most recent blog: "I need to check", he writes, "but a reliable source informs me that during this coming trip, Simple Minds may well be playing gig number 3,000. That is quite a thought, really. As I have been saying repeatedly recently, back when we started the band, our goal, aim, whatever you want to call it, was to become one of the great live bands. Taking ourselves around the world repeatedly while attempting to prove it. That challenge continues with each and every gig and we look forward to so much more, beginning in the weeks ahead."

Those subversive Devo boys - brothers Mark & Bob Mothersbaugh and Gerald & Bob Casale - have been up to their usual mischief in recent months. Fans love their hilarious new song 'Don't Roof Rack Me Bro! (Seamus Unleashed)', a shot at US presidential candidate Mitt Romney for strapping his Irish setter Seamus in his kennel to the roof of the car for a family vacation in the 80s.

The band has also created an accompanying smartphone app called "The Crate Escape" where gamers attempt to free Seamus from his crate. Have a listen - http://www.clubdevo.com/

Devo's Gerald Casale told US Rolling Stone magazine: "The promise of the Internet and digital distribution is that things can be instant and topical. It doesn't need to be from the old-school publicity mill. You can respond quickly, guerrilla style. For years that was more a theory than a reality. Finally, I see there is a democratization of getting an audience."

On stage, Devo can still whip it and whip it good - and their surrealist and highly innovative stage show will come complete with three decades worth of costume changes, including radiation suits, the iconic planter hats, masks and more. Influential, subversive and downright entertaining, DEVOtees..... expect the unexpected!

the church will complete this tri-continental Scottish, American and Australian bill. Like their international contemporaries, the church have endured and remained creative, continuing to tour and release albums to critical and public acclaim. a day on the green winery shows will also see the addition of Melbourne's Models, led by Sean Kelly.

For the first time ever in Australia, DiscLive Network, in cooperation with EMI Music Australia, will be offering fans the chance to take home live collectible CDs of both the Simple Minds and Devo sets they have just enjoyed.

These will be fully mastered, full quality double audio CDs, packaged in super high quality digipaks and individually numbered to make them true collector's items. The DEVO discs will also feature a 1978 never-before-released UK concert. Fans can pre order these from www.disclivenetwork.com, or can purchase them straight after every show at the merchandise stands.
