Ticket Scalping FAQs
What is a day on the green's position on ticket scalping?

Ticket scalping and the presence of unauthorised resellers is an issue which continues to frustrate many music fans, artists, venues and promoters, including the team at a day on the green.

We know that Australians and New Zealanders are as passionate about music and live entertainment as we are and we believe that you shouldn’t be taken advantage of by unscrupulous individuals.

Recently we’ve been made aware of people paying excessively inflated prices for tickets to our concerts through unauthorised outlets – some of these tickets being sold multiple times, which has led to fans being turned away at the venue. We are particularly concerned with the inflated prices of these tickets from unauthorised sellers.

We really cannot stress this enough - fans buying tickets to shows presented by a day on the green are warned not to buy tickets from unauthorised operators.

Our only advice is: simply don’t do it.

You don’t know who you’re buying from, the ticket may be in breach of the terms and conditions set by the original ticketing agency (and therefore cancelled), or the same ticket might have been sold multiple times to different people.

We hate seeing fans pay inflated prices for tickets or turned away because their ticket isn’t valid. Beware of sites offering “100% money back guarantee” as this is not the same as getting to experience the show you have booked tickets for. We constantly see disappointed fans turned away at the door when they present tickets which have either been cancelled, sold multiple times, or are complete fakes.

Not only is it a waste of money, it’s simply heartbreaking for fans when this happens – particularly right outside the venue door.

Unfortunately, when this happens, neither a day on the green nor the authorised ticketing agency are able to help you in getting a refund or re-issuing the unauthorised ticket.

At no time does a day on the green allocate tickets to any of the following organisations:

theticketmerchant.com.au | ticketfinders.com.au | worldticketshop.com | ebay.com.au | viagogo.com.au | Ticketmaster Resale (accessible via ticketmaster.com.au)

Scalpers also use the platform Ticketmaster Resale but that does not make them authorised sellers. This can be confusing because Ticketmaster is our official ticketing outlet.

Ticketmaster and Ticketmaster Resale are two different things – there is no guarantee that tickets bought on Ticketmaster Resale will be valid tickets.

The only way you can be assured of paying the correct prices and actually receiving valid tickets is by purchasing via our official ticketing agent Ticketmaster OR via the AAMI Lucky Club should be you an AAMI customer.

If you have any doubts, visit adayonthegreen.com.au for direct links to the authorised ticketing agency of each event.

The ACCC and each state’s consumer affairs body can provide further information as to your rights in relation to unauthorised ticketing sites.

Why does a day on the green care? Isn’t it just about market forces?

Many would argue that reselling tickets is purely about market forces - supply and demand. We disagree with this argument as:

1. The BUYER has few avenues of recourse if a concert/event is cancelled.
On occasion concerts are cancelled or postponed. Buyers who have purchased tickets via authorised outlets are entitled to a refund within the Terms Of Sale of the ticket as outlined by the ticketing agency. By buying from an authorised outlet the buyer is assured that they have avenues of legal recourse if a refund is not supplied. If you buy from an unauthorised ticket seller, you run the risk of not being able to get a refund or exchange if the concert is cancelled, rescheduled or significantly re-located.

Major promoters such as a day on the green have an established reputation of doing the right thing by concert patrons, whereas a ticket scalper most frequently sells under a pseudonym and is not governed by any code of practice. Finding and holding these individuals accountable for a full refund is difficult, in most cases unlikely and is not the responsibility of a day on the green.

It is important to note that the original authorised ticketing agency can only refund to the original purchaser and not to the person who has bought a ticket from an unauthorised seller.

2. The ARTIST has the right to set a ticket price for their fans
Most touring artists have considerable input into the ticket prices their fans pay to attend their concerts. It is the right of every artist to do this.

By on-selling tickets at an inflated price, ticket scalpers are taking advantage of both the artist and the fan. The scalper profiteers off the hard work and talent of the touring artist. A day on the green does not believe this is fair or right.

What does a day on the green do to prevent ticket scalping?

a day on the green limits the number of tickets individuals can purchase to a concert. On shows that are considered to be particularly popular, numbers may be greatly limited and special measures may be employed such as lining up in person to purchase tickets, ticket suppression and/or photo identification being required to enter a seat/venue on the night.

We monitor prominent auction sites and unauthorised resellers for tickets that are being sold in breach of our authorised ticketing agencies’ Terms of Sale.

It is worth noting that it is against the Listing Policy of most auction sites and unauthorised resellers to offer products that are not physically in the seller’s possession.

Unfortunately these measures can often inconvenience the fans we're trying to protect; however these are the current methods available to us to limit and control scalping. You should seriously consider whether to buy tickets from a scalper.

We also do our best to educate our customers not to purchase tickets via any secondary resale site with messaging on our website and social media channels.

Our hope is that the various Governments will introduce anti-scalping legislation that will protect and look after the interest of honest fans.

Australians and New Zealanders are passionate about their music, sport and entertainment and, we believe, shouldn't be taken advantage of by unscrupulous individuals.

a day on the green - OUR GREEN POLICY
Incentivising Green Travel
  • To encourage patrons to use our shuttle bus service or to car-pool and help us reduce our carbon footprint, a day on the green will be charging a parking fee of $20 per vehicle for all events commencing October 2020*
  •
  • If you CAR-POOL to a day on the green and arrive in a vehicle with 4 or more paying ticket holders you will NOT be charged for parking.
  •
  • The parking fees go directly towards investing in and supplementing the cost of the bus shuttles we provide to transport patrons to and from local areas.

*From October 2020 a $20 parking fee applies to the following venues:

Victoria: Rochford Wines, Yarra Valley; Mt Duneed Estate, Geelong; All Saints Estate, Rutherglen
New South Wales: Bimbadgen, Hunter Valley
Queensland: Sirromet Wines, Mount Cotton
South Australia: Leconfield Wines, McLaren Vale; Peter Lehmann’s Wines, Barossa Valley

Payment will be taken by cash or card upon parking onsite.

Please Note: Different parking fees and conditions apply at the following venues with limited onsite parking available: Centennial Vineyards, Bowral NSW and Heifer Station Wines, Orange NSW.

Please refer to venue transport information HERE.

Waste prevention and recycling plan from October 2020
  • Over the coming seasons, we will be phasing out the use of single-use plastics through the implementation of water in aluminium cans, reusable bottles for sale and extending the availability of free water on site. We will remove all plastic bags and plastic straws/cutlery/plates.
  •
  • We will sell reusable quality plastic wine cups at the bars.
  •
  • We will only allow compostable or reusable plates and cutlery – including drinking straws. All cutlery used by market stalls must be made from FSC-assured wood or compostable material. All plastic cups are biodegradable and compostable.
  •
  • Disposable single-serving sachets, like those used for sauces or sugar, are not supplied or available anywhere on-site.
  •
  • We are working with suppliers to reduce the packaging that products are delivered to our event in.
  •
  • From October 2020, good-quality reusable plastic water bottles will be available for purchase as an alternative to single-use plastic bottles. These will be refillable at taps across site.
  •
  • We will continue to work on our waste management processes at our venues to maximise recycling and minimise waste sent to landfill.
What you can do to help protect the environment at our events
  • Please use our recycling bins. It is not okay to drop litter on the ground. Help us by placing your waste into the correct recycling bins.

  • Please use the toilets provided. Urinating on the land or in the rivers contaminates the local water supply.

  • Please use public transport or car-share to A Day On The Green. Car exhaust is still the greatest contributor to global climate change. Join the 30 per cent of concert-goers that travel to the concerts by public transport and help to reduce our carbon footprint.

  • Please bring a reusable water bottle. These can be filled for free at all of our free drinking water taps located onsite.

  • Please use water responsibly. Turn off taps and help us use water efficiently.

  • Please dispose of cigarette butts responsibly. They are a fire hazard! They are also a major health hazard if they are thrown on the land - they leach chemicals into the soil and local water supplies.

  • Please clean up around you. Do your bit and place rubbish in allocated waste hubs when leaving the venue. Bring a reusable rubbish container so you can deposit your rubbish at a waste hub.

  • Packing a picnic? Please use compostable or reusable plates, cutlery, cups and water bottles. Bring food products unpackaged or in reusable containers.

  • Please take your chairs, rugs & picnic items home with you. Unnecessary resources are wasted picking up broken chairs, rubbish and drink containers post event.

  • Please remember that glass is not permitted onsite.
