'a day on the green' WITH HOODOO GURUS AND THIRSTY MERC!

Following the outstanding response to John Mellencamp/Sheryl Crow concerts, Roundhouse Entertainment and Mellen Events are pleased to announce the next 'a day on the green' concert will be an Aussie rock classic!
Headlining will be the mighty HOODOO GURUS, with THIRSTY MERC, MARK SEYMOUR and the reformed REELS, with local act Andrew Winton kicking off the day.
This Sunday concert is geared for the whole family, running from 11am to 6.30pm and with children under 12 admitted free in the general admission area. The giant kids entertainment zone will again be on site with children's performer's, face painting, story-telling and other activities throughout the afternoon.
These Sunday 'a day on the green' day-time events have been hugely popular selling out for the past four years. And with these five great acts, get set for one helluva shot of Aussie rock in what will be a musical feast! Tickets are on sale from Friday August 15.
THE ARTISTS:
HOODOO GURUS' high octane brand of garage pop/rock has thrilled fans in Australia and around the world for more than twenty years. They've topped charts and produced classic anthems like 'What's My Scene', 'Bittersweet', 'Come Any Time', 'One Thousand Miles Away', 'My Girl' and 'Like Wow - Wipeout' on their way to cult hero status.
The band was a popular inductee in the 2007 ARIA Hall of Fame, honouring their incredible contribution and influence on the Australian scene. Their live reputation is second to none - anyone who sees a Gurus gig is infected for life! Following last year's US tour, the Gurus are currently touring the UK/Europe, which included a performance at the world famous Glastonbury Festival.
THIRSTY MERC - Since first bursting onto the national scene back in 2003, word-of-mouth, hundreds of shows and a swag of great songs have propelled Sydney-based THIRSTY MERC to national popularity. Their debut album spent almost a year on the ARIA charts, sold close to double platinum and produced memorable sing-a-long hits like 'Emancipate Myself', 'Someday, Someday' and 'In the Summertime'.
Led by the mighty vocals of charismatic, curly-haired Rai Thistlethwayte, the band's just-released second album 'Slideshows' is another cracker, led by the first single '20 Good Reasons'. In the great tradition of Aussie pub bands, THIRSTY MERC are road warriors and love nothing better than being on stage.
MARK SEYMOUR - As frontman of Hunters And Collectors, MARK SEYMOUR has been responsible for some of Australian music's greatest moments from 'Throw Your Arms Around Me' to 'You Don't Make Me Feel Like I'm A Woman Anymore'.
His 2007 album 'Westgate' received stunning reviews whilst his second Liberation Blue acoustic album 'Titanic' has just been released featuring many of H&C's best-loved songs retooled into potent acoustic form. It is true to say Mark has never sounded better.
THE REELS reunion a few months back was warmly received by both fans and critics alike. Dave Mason, John Bliss and Colin Newham made perfect pop with songs like 'Love Will Find A Way', 'Prefab Heart', 'Quasimodo's Dream' and Burt Bacharach's 'This Guy's In Love With You' etching them a well-deserved place in the history books.
In August 2007 Liberation released 'Reel To Reel 1978 - 1992' a classic compilation which thrilled loyal fans and also found many new ones. Their reformation has them on the road for the first time since 1987.
ANDREW WINTON -Award winning and internationally recognised, Andrew is an independent solo artist who has released three albums, with a fourth due later this year. Combining a range of lap slide instruments including the 7-string Wintonbeast with hollers, stomps & melodic vocals, Andrew delivers an engaging and authentic performance. He plays original music with blues, roots, folk, gospel & jazz influences.
