The popular winery concert series a day on the green celebrated its 10th anniversary in January this year (2011).

For promoters Michael and Anthea Newton of Roundhouse Entertainment, the milestone was a momentous one, and was testimony to just how much this event has been embraced by artists and music lovers since the first show in January 2001.

The idea of combining music with magnificent winery locations was not new, however Roundhouse Entertainment was the first to build a complete brand package and tour it nationally. a day on the green is an “experience” combining the best Australian and International artists with carefully selected wineries, offering a day of good food & wine, good company and of course great music.

A Sydney newspaper coined the phrase which still remains true - it is ‘the Big Day Out for grown-ups’.

a day on the green runs in the Australian summer months from October – March with more than 40 concerts per season. Four years ago the event launched successfully in New Zealand, which hosted 8 shows last season. The concerts feature three or four artists performing from late afternoon to evening. Capacities range from 5000 – 11,000.

a day on the green is Roundhouse Entertainment’s only business, enabling the company’s full attention to be focused on the winery events, unlike other music promoters who stage concert tours all year round. It’s this loving attention to detail that has enabled a day on the green to build an incredibly loyal following and to consistently have capacity crowds at events all around Australia and New Zealand.

a day on the green has spawned four albums, three TV specials and a hugely popular merchandise range. The member’s database is now substantial and provides brilliant direct marketing opportunities.

It is absolutely true to say that international artists adore performing at the events. They appreciate getting out of the concrete bunkers and capital cities, seeing some of the Australian countryside, performing under the stars in magnificent outdoor venues..... and, of course sampling some wonderful Australian wines. What’s not to love!!!

With more than 250 shows, a day on the green is firmly established as one of Australasia’s most respected and successful outdoor events. It is the ultimate compliment that other promoters have been so keen to try to follow in our footsteps into the winery market.

Good food, good wine and great music in magnificent locations..... we hope to see you at a day on the green soon!
